Whether or not it has diamonds, we advise storing your gold jewellery in a closed box. Store pieces individually in bags or wrap them in cloth. This prevents scratches and tangling. Keep your jewellery box somewhere dry, not in the bathroom.
Always take off your jewellery and put it in the same, safe place every time you take a shower or bath, perform dirty or heavy work, clean the house, do the dishes or go swimming. Your jewellery’s biggest enemies are chlorine and salt water, but cleaning or bathing can cause damage as well.
Preparing for work or planning to go out? Put on your jewellery last, after your perfume and makeup. Avoid contact between your makeup and jewellery as much as possible. Additionally, put on your clothes first so you won’t catch your jewellery on anything.
Gold won’t oxidise, but wearing your jewellery can still cause it to become dirty. Clean it with a cloth at regular intervals. For deeper cleaning, use water with a mild detergent such as dish soap. Scrub your jewellery gently with a toothbrush, rinse it well and pat it dry with a soft cloth.
Don’t use paper towels, as these can scratch the gold. For greater shine, you can use special jewellery polishing cloths.
Want your jewellery cleaned professionally? You’re welcome to bring it to us. It’s also wise to have any diamonds in a claw setting checked annually. We will make them shine like new again.
Did you opt for rhodium-plated white gold jewellery? The rhodination layer can wear off eventually. If this should happen to your white gold jewellery, you can bring it to us to have it refreshed. We would be happy to provide a quotation.
